KTTC 008: Mount Kilimanjaro (marangu, kibo, mawenzi, mandara,
Gilman's point peaks), Tanzania and Zanzibar Budget Safari (18days)
It
takes about 5 days to climb Kilimanjaro ( Marangu Route), which
is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest extinct
volcanoes. Any physically fit person can climb it. No climbing
experience is required. The mountain climb can be in any month
except during long rains in April and May. The best months are
January to March and August to October usually with cloudless
days. There are two peaks: Mawenzi-5149m and Kibo-5895m.
DAY
1: Boards shuttle bus from Nairobi at 0800 hrs and proceed
to Arusha arriving at 1300hrs. Depart for Moshi at 1400hrs
arriving at 1530hrs. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Moshi.
DAY 2: After breakfast, start the climb through fascinating
rain forests till you reach the first hut Mandara. Meals
and overnight at the hut. (9,000ft).
DAY
3: After breakfast, follow the ascending path through the
alpine - meadow. The altitude begins to change and slowdown
your pace while enjoying the flora and the view of Mawenzi
and Kibo peaks. Arrive at the Horombo Hut 12km from Mandara.
Meals and overnight at the hut. (12,520ft).
DAY
4: After breakfast, resume the climb, the landscape becomes
rugged and rocky. Lobelias begin to appear. Climb to Kibo
Hut. Meals and overnight at the hut. (15,520ft)
DAY
5: The beginning of the last ascent is made in the wee
hrs of the morning while the scree is still frozen. Climb the
very steep part of the route to GILMAN'S POINT (most
difficult and tiring part). UHURU PEAK is reached within
an hour's walk along the crater rim. (19,344ft). Start the
walk along the craters rim. (19,344ft). Start the descent to
Horombo hut for overnight
DAY
6: Return to a hotel in Moshi. After lunch, have a good
rest, meals and overnight at your hotel.
DAY
7: After breakfast, depart for Arusha to arrive in time
for lunch
Depart in the afternoon from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. Dinner
and overnight at the Camp.

8: Morning and afternoon game drives in the Tarangire Park,
Meals and overnight at the Camp.
Day
9: After breakfast, proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation
Area and set up camp. Ngorongoro Conservation Area's central
feature is the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the largest intact
caldera in the world and one of the most spectacular sights
in Africa. The Olduvai Gorge in the neighborhood is the site
where some of Africa's oldest hominid fossils were found. The
Crater has densest predator population in Africa. Elephant,
lion, zebra, wildebeest and a host of other resident animals
are to be found here. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

10: Morning and afternoon game drives at the Crater floor.
Meals and overnight at the camp.
Day
11: After breakfast leave for vast Serengeti National Park,
Africa's most popular game reserve. There is an incredible
number of animals in this vast game park. Wildebeest is the
most populous followed by zebras. Elephant is notably scarce.
Cheetahs and the rest of the big cats are regularly sighted
in the plains. The few remaining endangered black rhino are
restricted at the Moru Koppies area. The park is also famous
for the wildebeest migration, often described as the most impressive
spectacle in the world. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon
proceed for a game drive. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

12: Morning and afternoon game drives in the Park. Meals
and overnight at the camp.
Day
13: After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park and
set up camp. After lunch proceed for an afternoon game drive
in the park. Birdlife in the park is very broad. The home of
tree-climbing lion, the park is also home to giraffes, hippo,
zebra, and buffalo. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day
14: After breakfast proceed for an early morning game drive
en-route to Arusha town in time for lunch. Later transfer to
Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar. On arrival at Zanzibar
airport meet and transfer to Mnarani Beach Cottages in the
northern coast. Dinner and overnight at Mnarani.

15: Day at leisure. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at
Mnarani Beach Cottages.

16: Day at leisure. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at
Mnarani Beach Cottages

17: Day at leisure. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at
Mnarani Beach Cottages

18: After breakfast, transfer to the Zanzibar airport for
your flight back to Arusha
